Computer Science and Engineering By 2050 the world will need 6-7 cubic miles of oil. This is the equivalent to 28 gorge dams, 728 coal fired plants, 364 nuclear power plants, 229,550 wind turbines, or 638,750,000 solar panels. The world will also need clean water for 9 billion people. To make this happen engineers around the world will have to come together to maintain that much energy by 2050. Computer Scientists will be a major part in this process. Computer Science is very unique because of how many job fields there are, what computer scientists work on, and how computer scientists improve the daily lives for others. What is computer science/engineering? Well computer science is the study of programs and systems. It requires thinking in both software and hardware. Nowadays, mostly every person uses some sort of item that computer scientists work on. Getting computers to do what you want them to do requires a learning experience. But computer science can be seen on a higher level, as a science of problem solving. Computer scientists must be masters at solving and analyzing problems. They must also be able to create equations and verify that they are correct (What is?). In addition computer science also has strong connections to other engineering branches.
